I know New Years Resolutions can be a touchy subject for some. Plain and simple, some people like them and some people don’t. Personally, I LOVE them. BUT my take is you’ve got to set goals that work for YOU and set them WHEN they work for you.

I know New Years Resolutions can be a touchy subject for some. Plain and simple, some people like them and some people don’t. Personally, I LOVE them. BUT my take is you’ve got to set goals that work for YOU and set them WHEN they work for you.
Here I’ll share a little bit on my 2016 goals, why they worked and provide you with a couple tips I keep in mind when setting my goals.
A: To run a half marathon without walking.
M – MEASURABLE
Q: How do I know when I’ve accomplished it?
A: When I run 13.1 miles in a recognized race!
A – ATTAINABLE
Q: Is this something that you can realistically achieve?
A: Yes! I set it to something I was confident I could do if I set the right strategies in place.
R – RELEVANT
Q: Is this applicable to other things going on in your life?
A: Absolutely, many of my other goals were focused on overall wellness and involvement in community. This was in alignment with both. It kept me physically healthy and allowed me to run for a cause (The MDA Association)!
- Find an accountability Partner. I share my goal with them and ask them to hold me accountable to making it happen.
- I write my goals down, and tape them to my bathroom mirror. This serves as a constant reminder and accountability to myself to fulfill them!
- Break up my goals into life categories! Every year I set goals in: Wellness, Spirituality, Community and Professional.
Cheers to 2017 and some SMART goal booty kicking!
